‘Oxfordshire Wildlife Exposed’ Photo Competition
In November and December 2008, Science Oxford will be hosting the Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, and to celebrate they are launching 'Oxfordshire Wildlife Exposed', a competition to find Oxfordshire's top wildlife photographers. To highlight the stunning and diverse selection of plants, animals, landscapes and environments that the county has to offer, residents are invited to send Science Oxford the best pictures they have of wildlife in Oxfordshire.
The winning photos will be shortlisted and judged by a panel of experts, including CEO of Science Oxford, Dr Ian Griffin, and local wildlife photographer, Craig Churchill. Science Oxford is offering a cash prize of £150 for the best photo, and two second prizes of £75 each - one for under 16s, and one for people aged 16 and over. Additionally, the shortlisted entries will be put on public display at Science Oxford during the Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.
Emma Wightman, Events and Exhibition Officer at Science Oxford and organiser of the photo competition, says ‘I'm really looking forward to receiving lots of entries, and seeing the range of wildlife that people are photographing in Oxfordshire’.
Competition participants can enter up to three photos, which must be of wildlife (i.e. no domesticated animals), and must have been taken in Oxfordshire. Entries should be sent to photo@scienceoxford.com by 30 September 2008. Photos must be digital, and the entry should include the participant’s name, where the photo was taken, and whether they are entering in the under 16s or the over 16s category.
